Champions come in all shapes and sizes. At Challenged Champions Equestrian Center, disabled youth receive therapeutic riding lessons which enhance both gross and fine motor skills. Engaging children and adults with disabilities, the facility is able to offer year round lessons thanks to its indoor heated arena. Each school year Van Buren Schools provide their multi-handicapped students a four week program which consists of riding and other activities in conjunction with the school’s physical education program. Challenged Champions also works with at-risk youth from the Hancock County Alternative Opportunity Center. Challenged Champions holds the adolescent classes at their satellite location’s barn, with various other hands-on activities. The Equestrian Center is operated with the support of its volunteers.
