A fashion ambush

Next time you’re at a Findlay Village Mall event, be prepared to be ambushed by the Mall’s teen Fashion Team.  The group of six young women, all area high school students, has been known to conduct “ambush makeovers” on unsuspecting shoppers.
“At events like our Girls’ Night Out in December, the Fashion Team looks for attractive candidates who could benefit from some hair, makeup and clothing advice,” says Elizabeth McComb, marketing director.
Those lucky enough to be ambushed receive several hundred dollars in fashion finds at Mall stores and a hair and makeup “re-do”.  Meanwhile, Fashion Team members hone their skills, advising customers about the most flattering clothing and accessory choices.  Selected through an application process, all team members have a career interest in fashion design, consulting, or retail management.
Morgan Grilliot, Findlay High School junior, serves as president of this year’s team.  Other members are:  Anna Alumbaugh, senior, Liberty Benton; Brendan Cline, sophomore, Vanlue; Debbie Park, sophomore, Findlay Christian; Hannah Stine, junior, Findlay High School; and Taylor Miller, junior, Van Buren.
According to the Fashion Team, “can’t live without” items for 2010 include: dark-washed jeans, unique belts, classic trench coats, Ugg-style boots or moccasins, and plaid, plaid, plaid.
“We all shop locally,” adds Grilliot.  “You can find anything you want right here at the Mall and other local stores if you take the time to look.”
Fashion Team members are available to act as personal shoppers and advisors.  For more information, contact Elizabeth McComb, 419-423-8732 or 258elm@jjgco.com
