The Findlay community values the input and ideas of its high school students and considers them tomorrow’s leaders. To prepare for such a significant role, those entering their junior year this fall are invited to apply for the Hancock Youth Leadership Class of 2012.
Hancock Youth Leadership (HYL) is co-sponsored by the Hancock Leadership Alumni Association and the Findlay-Hancock County Chamber of Commerce. Truly an investment in our community, HYL enhances knowledge and develops leadership skills in a select group of high school students. The program motivates participants to become positive role models who are active and committed to their civic responsibilities.
“This is a great program for the students and the adult leaders,” says Chris Long, president of the HYL Board of Directors. “They all learn more about their community and how they can play an important role in its future.”
Students accepted into Hancock Youth Leadership will attend monthly meetings beginning with an overnight retreat in August. Session topics include Health and Human Services, Volunteerism, Agriculture, Arts and Media, Government, Business and Economic Development, Justice and Law, Public Safety, and Board Service.
Applications are available at Findlay and Hancock County high school guidance offices and must be completed by April 1, 2011. For more information, contact Sheri Murphy at 419-422-3313, ext. 115 or e-mail Sheri at leadership@findlay www.hancockchamber.com
