Parents Night Out

This Valentine’s Day, celebrate your love, and ignite the passions, during a night out— sans kids. Take some time with your sweetheart and profess your passion during a delicious dinner, a wine-soaked affair, a night of laughter, or something else. Since getting out is hard enough— and celebrating Valentine’s Day on Valentine’s Day is a luxury not every parent can afford— we’ve made sure to give you love birds plenty of options to cherish time together.

Set the stage

Enjoy a show as high-energy and spectacular, or an evening as flexible and soothing, as your love, at the Marathon Center for Performing Arts. Offering shows and classes all year round, the Center is the best bet for setting the stage for romance. Our best bets in February? The captivating and acclaimed performances of Japanese Taiko drumming and music during the Yamato: The Drummers of Japan performance ($25, 7:30-9:30pm on Monday, February 5), and a sensual evening of candlelit yin yoga with live harpist, Mikaela Umbs, during The Art of Yoga – An Evening of Tranquility ($25, 7-8pm on Thursday, February 22). 200 W. The hardest part of going out? Securing a safe and responsible babysitter. Enjoy a night on the town, courtesy of Camp Fire of Northwest Ohio, during Camp Fire’s Parent Night Out. Kids ages 4-12 can enjoy an evening of Valentine’s Day crafts, movies, popcorn, and interactive, educational games, while parents can do whatever they want— far, far away from their kids. $10 per child. $8 per child, if three or more children. 6-9:30pm. Gather your love

Get your feelings together and head to the sultry and upscale restaurant complex, The Gathering, The Gathering Wine, and Anvil Whiskey Bar for Valentine’s Dinner at The Gathering. For six days, The Gathering will offer a heart-warming and belly-filling pris-fix three-course meal for $80 per couple, plus tax and gratuity. Start with an appetizer (mushroom bruschetta or shrimp cocktail), followed by your choice of an entrée (a chargrilled 6 oz. grass-fed beef tenderloin, Bull’s Blood Beet Risotto, daily vegetable and maître d’ butter; The Gathering’s popular mac n’ cheese, made with cavatappi pasta, smoked bacon and gouda, rosemary cream, and peeled and diced tomatoes; or oven roasted 10 oz. bone-in chicken breast, served with parsnip puree, smoked pork belly, roasted mushrooms and a natural glace), and then finish with dessert (all 32 layers of “Jerry’s Cake” or traditional cheesecake). Globally sourced, locally crafted, Gillig Winery is Findlay’s first winery— making it a perfect place to pour over your love with your sweetheart. Sip on handcrafted wines, made with grapes gathered from around the world, and then produced and bottled in Findlay an nosh on appetizers, cheese, flatbread pizzas, sandwiches, salads, desserts, and more, in their charming bistro. Classic Italian love— with a twist

One of Findlay’s most impressive restaurants, the Bistro on Main is an obvious pick for a great date night. With a romantic atmosphere, fine wines, creative cocktails, and delicious cuisine, it’s no surprise this restaurant books up early for Valentine’s Day. This year, the inspired Italian restaurant will offer 34 oz. bone-on Tomahawk Ribeye and fresh Sea Bass, along with their already-impressive menu, as well as plenty of Champagne and their extensive wine list. Cozy up by a warm flame at Fireside Brick Oven Pub and Grill during their Valentine’s Day Special. For three days, this romantic and chic brick oven restaurant— known for their incredible pizza— will offer a dinner for two for only $60. Enjoy a bottle of their House Coastal Wines, an appetizer (their famous spent grain and season olive oil, or caprese skewers), two entrees, and two desserts. Reservations are recommended. Think your love is cool? Spark some curiosity, satisfy your appetite, and go on an exhilarating journey of taste, sound and touch during the 5th annual Dine in the Dark Dinner, presented by Lodestar: Guiding Angels for the Blind, in conjunction with the Office of Disability Services at the University of Findlay. This three-course meal will be served completely in the dark, forcing you and your beau to get in touch with your other senses. Proceeds benefit Lodestar: Guiding Angels for the Blind. Romance can be a little funny— there’s something uniquely humorous about anything that unleashes butterflies in your stomach. Merge your heart and funny bone during Comedy Night at Carmie’s Bar and Grill, at Camden Falls in Tiffin. MC Matt Vanderpool will lead the audience through a night of comedy, featuring performers Cody Cooper, Scott Putman and Ky Miller. Enjoy the show for only $10, or opt for dinner and a show for $20.
