There’s a new path to career advancement in the crucial health care industry, as the new Findlay campus of Acadia Career Institute continues in its first year of operation, ready to begin its second class in March. More than a conventional nursing school, Acadia is the creation of Artemis Yardas-Gross, who’s worked both as an educator and as a certified holistic nurse for over two decades. She has extensive experience as a trauma/ICU nurse, and is no stranger to teaching, having founded the Wayne, Michigan location of Acadia in 2005, as well as Sylvania, Ohio’s Athena Career Academy. She’s excited to be here. “I just loved the community so much,” she says, “so when I sold my school in Sylvania I was eager to come to Findlay.”

Acadia offers what Yardas-Gross describes as a holistic-based LPN program, which incorporates alternative therapies like healing touch and energy-based therapy. “Our graduates are exposed to these types of modalities that are great for pain management. I think we’re the only (school) I know of in the Midwest that’s doing that.” Acadia also offers healing touch workshops for the general public, so even if nursing school isn’t in your future, you can assist those around you in pain.
