Cause for celebration

Join in the fun at the University of Findlay’s Homecoming celebration during the weekend of September 27th and 28th. While certain events are specifically for alumni, current students and their families, others are open to the public, including a fireworks display on Friday night (weather permitting). On Saturday, enjoy the Pre-Homecoming Tailgating Event, which will feature inflatables, pony rides, balloon animals, face painting, games, and much more. Rain or shine, festivities will begin at 11am, and participants can enjoy a classic car show, the proceeds from which will benefit Awakening Minds Art, a local Findlay arts program for children and adults with special needs.  Bring your appetite to enjoy a country cookout. Get up and out early Saturday for a 5K Susan G. Komen race (register at; click the 2013 Komen Northwest Ohio Race for the Cure-Findlay link); you must pre-register, and the race begins at 8:30 a.m. The grand finale: the Oiler football game at Donnell Stadium. Two lucky winners will be chosen at the end of the first quarter to ride high over Findlay in a balloon, which will launch into the air during halftime from  the practice field next to Donnell Stadium.
