For almost 100 years, Ballreich’s has been a name of tradition in the Tiffin community and now a store celebrating its nostalgic roots is opening its doors to the public. It’s not just about chips anymore.
Granny Ballreich’s Company Store will hold its Grand Opening at 9am on September 10. The store is located at 180 Ohio Ave., formerly the home of Carl and Emma Ballreich. Grand Opening events will include raffles, product sampling, and coffee tasting. Coloring book signings will take place from 10 am-12pm and 2-4pm with Illustrator/Artist Jodie McCallum and Author Kathy Mersch. The two collaborated with Ballreich Bros., Inc. to develop a 24-page coloring and activity book, which will be available for purchase, along with children’s t-shirts featuring the same artwork. In addition, Ballreich custom created artwork prints and t-shirts by Tampa Bay Artist Mike Williams, formerly of Port Clinton, will be available for purchase.
Haley Thomas, Ballreich’s director of sales and marketing, said the focus of the store will be Ballreich’s products, however Ballreich’s merchandise, Ohio-made and designed items, potato-themed merchandise and other novelties will be sold at the store. Another of the store’s features is a virtual tour room that will provide images of Ballreich’s history, the art of potato chip production and a glimpse of various media throughout the country that have featured Ballreich’s products. -KM
