The Findlay-Hancock County Public Library has kicked off a new book discussion series that will meet online monthly.
New Perspectives is a program where participants will read a book from the library’s catalogue and then meet via Zoom, led by both a Library staff member and an individual who can provide insight into the issues raised.
The program will begin on August 18 at 6:30pm with a discussion of Michelle Alexander’s searing work The New Jim Crow, an examination of race relations and mass incarceration. Christopher Caldwell, International Services Coordinator for Ohio Northern University, will participate in the discussion.
Individuals hoping to participate in the August meeting are asked to email hwalter@findlaylibrary.org. The New Jim Crow is available to read digitally through Hoopla at hoopladigital.com.
