If there’s a need to be addressed, Findlay area residents have learned to look to their community YMCA for a solution. When budget cuts forced the City of Findlay to discontinue its summer day camp at Riverside Park, the Y stepped in to provide weekday fun and supervision for kids entering grades one through five.
Day camp is already in full swing this summer, with sessions running through August 19. Registered campers can enjoy games, swimming, crafts and Riverside’s playgrounds from 8am-4pm, Monday through Friday. Early drop off and pick up can also be arranged. Cost per week is $30 per camper for Y members and $50 per camper for non-members. Registration forms and payment must be submitted prior to the camping session.
Another option offers kids entering grades one through eight a genuine camping experience at the Y’s Camp Mosshart west of Findlay. Parents can drop off their campers at the downtown Y weekdays at 7:30am and the Y will transport kids and staff to Mosshart and back by 4pm each day. The Y promises no time for boredom, as campers will visit several area parks, pools, the Toledo Zoo and take an overnight camping trip to Hocking Hills. (One field trip each week is included in the camping fee.) Cost of camp varies depending on number of days and Y membership status. For more information, pick up a registration form at the Y, or call Eric Trout, Youth/Sports Director, at 419-422-4424.
