Fun with cowboys

. September 26, 2012.

The Hancock County Fair’s been an ongoing tradition since 1852 (it was even the training ground for Civil War volunteers!), and this month the Hancock Agricultural Society brings back more of that old-fashioned charm. The fun starts Wednesday, August 29 with the standard fair fun and games, as well as the more exciting stuff — at 8 pm in the North Grandstand there will be a calf scramble (capture the baby cow — typical Wednesday night for a teen, right?) — and on Thursday, August 30 Mike Albert’s “Ultimate Tribute” takes the stage for a rousing (and respectful) Elvis Presley impersonation. The county fair continues through Saturday, September 1 with the edge-of-your-seat cowboy tricks of the Broken Horn Rodeo in the South Grandstand.
