Hancock Leadership “goes green”

. October 17, 2012.

Members of the Hancock Leadership (HCL) Class of 2011 will get their hands dirty for a cause this spring. As a class project, HCL will construct a greenhouse on the grounds of Blanchard Valley Center, Findlay.  The greenhouse will serve many purposes at the Center, from an educational tool to an income-generator through produce sales to the community. Everyone involved agrees that the project will greatly benefit Blanchard Valley Center’s program for developmentally disabled adults from Hancock and surrounding counties.

Total cost for the project (including plants and seeds) is estimated to be $25,000.  HCL has two fundraisers planned—a three-on-three Basketball Tournament in April, and its Annual Golf Outing, scheduled for May 13 at Sycamore Springs Golf Club. Members of the Class of 2011 have also made personal donations and are asking others to do the same. There is also a need for volunteers at both events and during the construction of the greenhouse.
