Laments of “I’m bored” and “There’s nothing to do” will be put to rest (at least for the day) on Thursday, July 21, at Kidfest. That’s when The Arts Partnership of Greater Hancock County teams up with Time Warner Cable to transform Riverbend Recreation Area into a multi-ring circus. Other event sponsors are the Hancock Park District and the Hancock County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau.

Columbus Bluejackets fans can visit the team’s Breakaway Street Hockey Arena for a puck shoot competition. More academic-oriented kids can participate in educational activities at the Boonshoft Museum’s Discovery Zone, The Golden Apple Academy’s Apple Bus and an exhibit by the Toledo Zoo. They can even star in their own animated video adventure!

University of Findlay athletes host a hands-on sports area and activity zone. For kids and adults who “just want to have fun,” Kidsfest also features face painting, giant inflatables, the Freedom Express train ride and other activities offered by area non-profits. If it’s Findlay, it MUST be shredded chicken sandwiches…along with pizza, hamburgers, hot dogs, mini-melt ice cream, soft drinks and water furnished by 2 Cool Confections.

Best part of the 2-8pm event is that it’s all FREE, except for refreshments. Handicapped parking and accessibility are also available. For more information or for directions to Riverbend Recreation Area, call the Arts Partnership at 419-422-4624 or visit
