Learning year-round

. October 18, 2012.

It’s almost summer, and your kids are excited. Who can blame them? Three months away from school seems like an eternity. But while vacation fun is an important part of childhood, it’s important for parents to keep their children’s learning skills from getting rusty. Kumon Learning Centers has opened a Findlay location on Tiffin Avenue, which gives kids a way to keep learning going year-round.

The Osaka, Japan-based Kumon operates more than 26,000 tutoring centers worldwide, teaching math and reading to children from pre-kindergarten through grade 12. The director of the Findlay Kumon Learning Center, Vidya Khasbardar, has an extensive background in education and is committed to the Kumon program. She is eager to bring her skills to a new market. “I’m working on building recognition,” Khasbardar says. “We’re a business predominantly spread through word of mouth,  [such as] parent testimonials.” Kumon instructors create individual lesson plans for each student, allowing each child to reach their potential. Classes are available on Tuesdays from 4:30 to 7:30pm and Saturdays from 10am to 1pm. Free placement tests are available outside of class hours. 2020 Tiffin Ave., #2. 567-208-5287. www.kumon.com/findlay.  Below, The staff of Findlay’s Kumon learning center.
