Newly opened and set to celebrate the holidays, Ohio Log House offers the chance to dine in a beautifully restored log cabin – then visit the seasonal shop for that unique gift for someone special. The restaurant and gift shop opened in September, a many-years-in-the-making dream for owners Eric and Jane VanRenterghem.
Originally located in Southern Ohio, the VanRenterghems purchased the cabin in 2003 and relocated it to Mt. Cory. Ohio Log House has been used by the family since 2009, but Jane dreamed of opening it up to the public. After recently retiring from teaching she knew it was the perfect time to turn that dream into a reality. Jane opened the log house as a seasonal shop and restaurant to pursue her passions of decorating, cooking and baking.
“Every day, since I made the decision to move forward with making the Ohio Log House a reality, the word, ‘joy’ has crossed my path,” she said. “‘…That is what I want people to feel when they experience the cabin.”
Ohio Log House offers meals strictly by reservation for groups of 8 or more. Both the shop and restaurant are open the second and fourth Saturdays of the month from September – December: 11am – 3pm and on Monday, Wednesday, Friday or Saturday. Box lunches and baked goods are also available.
Ohio Log House is located at 2720 Township Road 25, Mt. Cory, OH
