Recently “Passion Pantries” have been popping up all throughout Findlay and Hancock County. Passion Pantries are small, stand-alone pantries stocked by donations from the community and can be accessed by anyone in need. An Opening Ceremony for the first Passion Pantry located at 545 Winfield Ave. was held August 20th and ground was broken for the 2nd Passion Pantry located at the Family Resource Center (FRC) at 1941 Carlin St. on August 31st. With volunteers working quickly the FRC Passion Pantry was up and running by September 3rd. As of the time of this writing, two more Passion Pantries are being prepared.
The mission for the Passion Pantries is to decrease the food insecurity within Hancock County and to increase the sense of community with the theme “love your neighbor.” Although toiletry items are gladly accepted, the most pressing need is for shelf-stable foods.
