Pirate-Pirates-Cove

Arrrrgh you ready for a fun family adventure? Pirates Cove — Findlay’s new family entertainment center — is the place to be. Just opened in December, the center is the brainchild of attorney and Findlay City Council president, Robert Schuck, who has been envisioning a revitalized downtown for quite some time. With the help of Pirates Cove general manager, Penny Parker, the center is shaping up to be a go-to place for birthday parties and exciting Saturday nights alike.
“We’re doing fairly well just through word-of-mouth,” Parker said. “We’ve already hosted eight birthdays, and everyone who comes here has a really great time.”
Picture 25,000 square feet of pirate-themed entertainment. The establishment’s largest feature is the “Shiver Me Timbers” laser tag arena, shaped like the hull of a ship docked into town, the area allows children to roam freely on and off the ship to laser shoot their fellow “pirate enemies.”
“Their adventure starts in the black-lit Vesting Room, where they’ll find their gear hanging from a skeleton,” Parker said. “Though it depends on each individual child, we recommend anyone eight and over can play laser tag by themselves.”
Pirates Cove also features an “Arrrgh-cade” and Treasure Room, which includes 30 ticket-based games (tickets can be traded in for prizes). Parker discussed plans for the “Walk Da Plank” bounce house, which she said will include inflatable bouncing structures that should be ready by the end of January.
“We’re starting to paint the walls with balloons and stripes in primary colors, something a little less scary for younger children,” Parker said. “We’re hoping to include a plank and trampoline for a grand entry, but we might be limited due to the 11 foot ceiling.”
But it doesn’t stop there. Future plans for a mini-golf course are in the works, with the hopes of being ready by the spring. Until then, Pirates Cove will continue to entertain families with fun and games a plenty. Pirates Cove is located on the south bank of the Blanchard River at 230 E. Front St., open 4-9 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday. 4 p.m.-midnight Friday, 10 a.m. -midnight Saturday and 1-9 p.m. Sunday. For more information, or to reserve a party room, call 419-423-9999.
