The Toledo Zoo has added a new Expedition Africa! Aerial Adventure Course. The $2.75 million project, constructed in the midst of the zoo’s Africa! exhibit, allows participants an assortment of available activities.

Zipline riders soar down a 760 feet long, 80 feet high ride over the exhibit animals.

Freeflight participants will experience a controlled drop from 80 feet above ground.

Quick Drop entails a 30 foot controlled drop off the main tower. The Challenge Course is a series of physical and mental obstacles. Sky Bridge consists of three, 250 feet-long footbridges with dynamic views 30 feet above exhibit animals such as giraffes, kudus, wildebeest, ostriches, and zebras. The Tower Ridge Giraffe Experience requires a separate fee ($4 for 4 lettuce leaves, $40 for 12) which allows access to raised decks with giraffe feeding stations. It is scheduled to open May 6.

All other Expedition Africa! Aerial Adventure Course attractions are scheduled to open Memorial Weekend, and will operate, weather permitting, through Labor Day. Payment is required before participation, with online reservations recommended for the Challenge Course, due to limited capacity. Package options are available for groups of 75 or more.
