What’s a horizontal hundred

. October 23, 2012.

No, it’s not a Limbo contest or a bed race. The Hancock Horizontal Hundred, scheduled for Sunday, September 11, is one of the premier bicycle events in the Midwest. Sponsored by the Hancock Handlebars Club, the annual ride features distances of 20, 40, 62 and 100 miles. Featuring one of the “flattest” courses in Ohio, the Horizontal Hundred is a great event to attempt your first 100 mile “Century” ride! In addition to a scenic, rural course, the “Hundred” features bicycle dealer/vendor displays and a free ice cream social on Saturday evening prior to the ride. “Chris Cakes” will serve the traditional hot cakes breakfast on Sunday morning and ice cream will be available (again) at the end of the ride on Sunday from 2-4pm. Online registration continues through Monday,September 5.  Fees are $26 per rider and $58 per family (up to four members).  Registration fee the day of the event is $40 per rider.  Fees include a commemorative patch (to first 1,000 registrants), map, rest stops w/food, lunch, SAG support and a well-marked route on smooth blacktop roads. To register online, visit www.hancockhandlebars.org.  For more info call Matt Ankrom at 419-420-5099.
